upgrade messed up HPLIP so bad Scanner will not work

Seems the upgrade to 15.04 messed up HPLIP so bad it can not download and fix the HP driver keeps saying install failed . .
need scanner ASAP for graphics

Upgraded from 14.10 . . Used the Synaptic Package manager to remove and then re-install most of the HPLIP items

I need my scanner yesterday for scanning a doc to a png to send to Cherry Trade for a gob of dollars moved
. . Down loaded HPLIP run file and tried to install got Failed to install Printer works and it sees FAX but scanner says communication error
Going back to 14.10 as I need the scanner like NOW . . haha this will take a WHOLE DAY to do get files copied over to backup drive and erase entire drive and start over . . Almost like trouble I had with a different version of Ubuntu maybe 2 or 3 versions ago
