Stuck in Automatic login screen loop , can't even login to tty.

Asked by Anand

I am stuck in login screen loop . I'm not even able to type my password. It loops indefinitely. I tried some hints
chown username:username .Xauthority
or ,
chmod a+rw /tmt/
none worked .
I have live CD . I'm not willing to reinstall / loose installed apps .
Thanks for the solution

Have you checked the iso you have, if it is for 32 bits or 64 bits, maybe you should use 32 bits version, and also what Ubuntu version do you use? I recommend you 14 lts so far with 32 bits, depends on your machine. Give me more details please if you want.

I had downloaded and installed the latest iso file of 15.04 'vivid vervet' amd64 bit architecture. I have 64 bit machine running on intel i3 processor and NVdia GPU .
It was working fine on first run . But I was held in infinite( guess so , waited for many loops) after restart . I was not able to log in , not even it tty . it kept on looping without giving me chance to enter password .
Frustrated , I reverted back 14.04.01 LTS . But still I want the solution . And do suggest whether amd64 is better for pc with intel processor .
Thanks
