Upgraded kubuntu 15.04 not properly upgraded

Asked by frapell

I have upgraded my Kubuntu 14.10 to version 15.04. I did that using the default upgrade tool, following the instructions in https://help.ubuntu.com/community/VividUpgrades/Kubuntu

however, the upgrade tool just halted when configuring the newly installed packages, so I had to force a reboot, after which computer no longer booted.

Had to boot in recovery mode, and select to fix packages.

After this process ended, computer booted fine. And I was able to remove obsolete packages.

However, seems some upgrade step was not ran or something, because there are some stuff just not working properly (I have successfully upgraded to 15.04 in another computer, and I can compare).

1) Notifications do not show with their new style, instead I get some kind of "fallback" system:

2) I still see old icons, for instance, in Dolphin

However, if I hover, I do see the new icons:

I remember there was some way of reseting the UI when some garbage is left behing, but I have tried several google searches and cannot find it.

I also tried loging out, removing my .kde folder and logging back in, but nothing... still the same...
