Internal Error Occurs on Install of Ubuntu 14.04.2

Asked by Abhishek

I am new to using Linux distributions and I have been trying to get Ubuntu installed on my machine as a secondary operation system. I downloaded the official ISO file from Ubuntu's website and have created a bootable USB drive. When I run through the steps posted on the how-to-install page from Ubuntu, I get stuck at the step where it asks for the INSTALLATION TYPE. It doesn't show anything to select and when I click any of the interface buttons on the box, it either freezes or disappears and then I see this INTERNAL ERROR message pointing to ubiquity as the cause of the problem. What am I supposed to do? I have checked the md5sum using the steps listed on the official Ubuntu webpage and the ISO's md5 is correct. Any suggestions?

From what I can see in the steps of how to install this OS, the step I get stuck at should be allowing me to partition my harddrive to make an allocated space for the new OS to use. But this isn't happening.

Did you MD5 test the ISO you downloaded?

I did the MD5 test and everything checked out fine. I used the method provided on the Ubuntu webpage. If it's any more help the error shows something called ubiquity to be the problem but when I tried to sudo remove it before installing my thing doesn't get the error but the installation screen just disappears when getting to that same step.
