Locked mobile and how to reset passphrase

Asked by Pavlos Xenitidis

I changed my passcode to a passphrase on my ubuntu mobile but it insists to ask for a passcode! I don't get the full keyboard on the unlock screen but only the numeric keypad. And of course it does not recognise my old passcode. Now my mobile is locked and I cannot use it! Any suggestions? Any help? Thanks!

The only option I have is to provide a passcode! Nothing else.

One can get access to the recovery mode in the following way.

Turn off the mobile.

Hold the volume up button and press the power button to turn the device back on.

A menu will appear and you can move through the options using the volume up button . You can choose an option by using the volume down button.

One of the available options is recovery mode. If you choose it, you are given three choices. In my case I've chosen "wipe user's data" and my problem was solved.

In every step, there are on-screen instructions how to navigate through the various options.

Hope it helps.
