How did I generally get my Scanner being recognized by my ubuntu,

I use a Scanner for my first time, its a Medion, and I can't find a driver,
Itś an old MD9890, and it isn't recognised by my Ubuntu, how can I make him run, my cheap investion of 1Euro, at Ebay,
I know, it must beiing started by Xsane, but this, sayd, there isn't a Scanner available.
What must I do, is there a session possible, or who, and how can somebody help me,please ?
