Server attached usb scanner

Asked by Qluripax

Having an OfficeJet-7130, attached with USB to my office server. No problem printing via CUPS.
Now I'm trying to get scanning over network to work.

On the server I'm try hp-makeuri <usb:usb> with the result SANE URI: hpaio:/usb/officejet_7100_series?serial=HU36NCM0306K.

I've tried with scanimage -L (also with SANE_DEBUG_NET=128) from my clients. I reach my server but find no scanner. I believe that the point is to translate the above URI so it can be reached from my clients. Anyone that can give me some help?

All my machines runs Ubuntu 7.10

Thanks, Zombie. That was another solution of my problem. :-) - and a good one too.

The solution of my problem with scanimage -L from a client was user rights. I changed group to scanner in /etc/xinetd.d/sane. After that it works like a charm...
