Ubuntu implementation of SilverLight

Kindly advise how I can get Mono for Ubuntu to view audiovisual files that require Silverlight, please.
I downloaded the Xamarin packages to use a stable, official and up-to-date version of Mono

This required adding the Mono Project GPG signing key and the package repository to my system using sudo,or switching to root as follows:

apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys 3FA7E0328081BFF6A14DA29AA6A19B38D3D831EF
echo "deb http://download.mono-project.com/repo/debian wheezy main" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/mono-xamarin.list
apt-get update
echo "deb http://download.mono-project.com/repo/debian wheezy-apache24-compat main" | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list.d/mono-xamarin.list

I have installed wine 1.7 and winetricks. Also, i ran a system upgrade and package upgrade with:
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

Winetricks is listed under Applications, but only Mono Documentation.

How are the following packages to be installed:

mono-devel

 mono-complete

 referenceassemblies-pcl

Your kind advice and help would be most appreciated.

Pipelight does not show in the Applications list;. I don't know if it did install. The output from the commands followed from the link: http://pipelight.net/cms/install/installation-ubuntu.html are efc48@efc48:~$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:pipelight/stable
