Have set ICMP filtering on in Firestarter but it still echoes ping

Asked by Hanns Wetzel

When I first installed Firestarter with synaptic package manager it opersted in full stealth mode according to "Shields Up" but suddenly it started to echo ping requests according toi "Shields Up" and no amount of setting preferences with the wizard as well as checking the /etc/firestarter/configuration file has stopped ping echoing. I want to return it to full stealth mode. Can anyone help?

Hello Hanns

When 'Enable ICMP filtering' is checked, all the uncheked packet types should be denied. To allow any given packet type ICMP filtering will need to be enabled and the packet type checked.
