Sysreq sequence R,E,I,S,U,B

Asked by Henk Vanneste

I have problems in maintaining full functionality in my Lubuntu 14.04 LTS system : When Surfing the net using Google Chrome I get stuck : I can no longer enter characters from the keyboard in the dedicated area's or my mouse pointer stays at one particular point on the screen . Then the only thing I can do is using a Sysreq sequence R,E,I,S,U,B which reboots my PC . I got this Sysreq sequence from the Ubuntu forum, but I don't know what each character means . My PC is a HP Compaq DC 7700 SFF Dual core D 945 3400 Mhz/ HDD 80Gb S-ATA / 1536 Mb DDR2 RAM .

It's just a sequence of keys to restart Xorg.

Yes actionparsnip, but my System gets it too much, It's very frustrating to have to initiate this Sysreq sequence thre or four times a day, if it's not more . Please look for a reason that my system gets stuck, and what is the full solution, so that I don't get that porblmem no more ?

Have you tried the Intel driver installer?

OmgUbuntu has a guide. Also, try testing the RAM using Memtest86 from Grub.

I do not know anything about an "Intel driver installer", where and how do I do that ?

And The grub is not active on my PC, since it only runs Lubuntu 14.04 LTs, no Windows or other O.S.'s

Couldn't maybe use the Internet to find out what I meant. Too obvious?

Daer actionparsnip, I have clicked that link and get an old (2013) article about Xmir in Ubuntu 13.10 . Do you mean now that I have to look for updates n that Intel driver installer myself or didn't Canonnical not correct my problem since then ?

I swear to God that people using Ubuntu immediately lose the ability to search the Internet....
