Lock screen problem when making calls on Ubuntu Phone

Whenever I make a call on my Ubuntu phone the screen locks which in itself isn't a problem, but, whenever I press the side button to unlock it the screen comes on for a a second and then fades out before I am able to end a call or input any numbers when I'm through to a switchboard.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,
