Ubuntu 14.04 64-bit Mouse Buttons Not Working

Asked by Ben Tyler

Hi, I have a Dell Inspiron One 2330 running Ubuntu 14.04.

Shortly after installation about a year ago, the mouse buttons started not working at times. The problem slowly worsened and now the mouse buttons don't work at all - the pointer still works, but it can't left-click, right-click, or scroll. I've tried multiple mice, and it's not them. Software updater says everything is up-to-date.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated, I've been searching the internet on and off for a year now, trying little fixes I find, but nothing helps!

Have you tried a different USB port?

I just tried the mouse using all of the USB ports, still no luck.

Is there any additional information I can give that would be helpful? Just tell me the terminal command and I can post the output here.
