Could not download all repository indexes

The repository may no longer be available or could not be contacted because of network problems. If available, an older version of the failed index will be used. Otherwise, the repository will be ignored. Check your network connection and ensure the repository address is correct in 'Repositories' under 'Settings'.

Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

I've installed oracle java 8 (which is working fine) as a workaround as i couldn't get open jdk7 or the iced tea plugin to work but how do i get around the ubuntu extras update problem. Can anyone please help.

http://ppa.launchpad.net/openjdk-r/ppa/ubuntu/dists/

The PPA doesn't support Vivid and should be removed

Also http://extras.ubuntu.com/ does not have any software for vivid yet.
You should (at least temporarily) disable that server as repository source.

Are you aware that you are using the development release of Ubuntu?
As long as such release has not reached its publication date, only people who are able to repair broken systems on their own should use it.

Coping with non-existing repository sources is something so trivial, that it is expected that people who dare to use a beta version know how to solve such problem.

Can you help with this problem?
