Why has 14.10 gotten so slow starting

14.04 was fast starting had the icons and every thing up and running like zip and done ! BUT 14.10 has been dogging it around since day 1 and getting slower . . I can have several drinks of Coffee while it gets Icons and screen up and running . . What gives ?

Test your RAM health using Memtest86 from Grub.

You may also want to run an fsck on your file systems. The partition will need to be offline so do it in liveCD or run:
sudo touch /forcefsck

Then reboot.

This will help.

with the updated kernnel that was installed this morning it loads a GOB faster
