Virtuallbox will allow you to run a virtual Windows system on the Ubuntu host. This will not allow 3D gaming and will need at least a mid range PC as you will be running both OSes at the same time.

I don't see how this is to do with ascreensaver. The question looks confused.

Is the CD you have contain an application for Windows?

Or is it a Windows installation CD?

I have a purchased CD screensaver which is for windows and I would like to put it on my laptop which is of LINUX OS, can this be done as I dont know what to look for in ubuntu software. I think it is a windows install CD as it says it is compatible with xp etc but no mention of linux,, have tried it but error appears.

So it's not a "windows CD" at all.

You cannot use Windows screensaver files on a Linux based system. The mechanic for them is completely different.
