14.04 - does not connect to Eduroam wifi

Asked by Waldo

Works fine with home wifi, just not Eduroam network (a university network which is used internationally).

Tried all different certificates, with or with anonymous ID, about 15 different university guides but nothing works. When trying to connect to Eduroam wifi, it just tries to connect (you see the wifi logo pulsating) and then it prompts you again for the password you had already put in - this ends up being a vicious cycle.

No universities support 14.04 that I was able to speak to. No one seems to know and all the solutions I have found in ask ubuntu do not work for me.

I really dont want to resintall windows 8 on this, but need to work.

Im open to any solutions, even alternative wifi tethering if that even exists (that does NOT use phone data).

The computer is an ACER V5 132.

Nice when universities add pages like that :)

Arochester,

Tried the website as suggested - however the problem persists.

Ubuntu can otherwise connect to any other wifi and phone. It just turns out that Eduroam is the only network I can use while travelling from campus to campus.

Problem solved - University had provided wrong login details. University website is currently being amended as this was causing hundreds of students problems.

Eduroam technicians were kind enough to work this problem out.

In my case - anonymous identity and CA certificate not needed.
