uncomment the following lines in /etc/cups/mime.convs

# without the -oraw option.

Lexmark P915 USB printer... The print manager recognizes it and says it is idle.

Which version of cups you are using? Maybe it could be related to this..

http://www.cups.org/str.php?L1667

Also did you try restarting the cups daemon after making the changes?

sudo killall -HUP cupsd
sudo /etc/init.d/cups restart
sudo /etc/software/init.d/cups restart

Please have a try and keep us informed

Regards

Bhavani Shankar.

Actually, while I'm pretty new to Linux, I knew I had to restart - I could not remember how (the easy way noted above) so I used the brute-force method - I rebooted the machine...

what do you actually mean by brute forcing your PC? Had you tried restarting the daemon after making the changes?

I mean I rebooted the computer, restarting the Operating System. Yes, I restarted the daemon after changing the file.

Hello again Tom...

According to this that printer is classified as a Paperweight. No drivers not supported. Lexmark does not support linux very well.

http://www.openprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=Lexmark-P915

Sorry for BAD NEWS

Regards

Bhavani Shankar.
