Use the .deb format; if there is a choice, take the file with ltdl7 in the name; and depending on your system setup you have to select either i386 for a 32bit system or amd64 for 64bit.

Dear Manfred,ho seguito alla lettera il tuo suggerimento ma la stampante è sempre ferma.Ho provato anche ad installarla via wifi ma niente.
Hai qualche altro suggerimento da provare? Grazie Peppino Alviggi.

Hi mr Manfred,Scusa per il ritardo ma io al pc ci sto pochissimo. Sono
riuscito ad intallare la stampante Epson xp 402.E stato possibile con
Ubuntu Software centre utilizzando il driver per epson PX 101.Connettendo
la stampante via wifi riesco a stampare documenti in BW e Color,ma non e
possibile utilizzare lo Scanner anche se sulla home esce l icona dello
scanner.
A me gia va bene cosi,ma se hai qualche suggerimento per lo scanner ti
ringrazio.

Salve Mr Manfred,allego l'output dei comandi.Pero' io ho gia risolto tutto
con Ubuntu software centre caricando il driver per PX101 e per quando
riguarda lo scanner gia visto dal sistema con simple scan.
Quindi tutto ok
