I need help to install HP Deskjet F4135 with Ubuntu Dapper

Asked by Rodney Wimer

I've downloaded the new hplip file as you advised and the icon is indeed visible on my desktop but the location is described as /home/user/desktop. When I type the terminal instructions user@user-desktop it says there is no file. Should I move the file or use a different terminal command? Thank you.

Did you install latest HPLIP solution is version 2.8.2 link-http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=149981&package_id=165777

try downloading hplip-2.8.2.run self extractor

To use the self-extracting file, follow these steps:

   1. Download the file to the desktop
2.Goto to the terminal Application->Accessories->Terminal,Open a console/terminal, the terminal by default open on user@user-desktop: and type dir to see if the file is located there,if not paste the application to the desktop.
   3. Type in the command in the terminal : 'sh hplip-2.8.2.run' to run the application

Dont try to open it hplip-2.8.2.run as it cannot be opened.

Hope this helps
Manoj
