Hibernate option missing from Power-off menu after upgrade to 14.04.2

Asked by Konstantinas Tarchanovas

Hello,

I've recently upgraded from Ubuntu 12.04.5 to Ubuntu 14.04.2, manually fixed (mostly reinstalling software. reconfiguring settings in various configurations files) most of the non-functioning part, but I'm not able to make this thing work with the help of articles/answers that i find using Google.

The problem is, that I've done all the changes according to this article:

http://ubuntuhandbook.org/index.php/2014/04/enable-hibernate-ubuntu-14-04/

and I'm still missing hibernate option in the power-off menu (this one http://ubuntuhandbook.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/hibernate-ubuntu1310.jpg see screenshot attached) .

The strangest part, that I can successfully hibernate/wakeup my PC using this terminal command:

sudo pm-hibernate

Also I've already checked all files located in this directory and its sub-directories:

/var/lib/polkit-1/localauthority

and changes "no" to "yes" on every option, that has a word "hibernate" in the title of it.

What should I check/change next to get that menu option enabled ?

Thanks in advance for any help :)

p.s. I've also tried installing this app/tweak http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2014/03/add-shutdown-restart-power-commands-unity-dash and it works, but removed as it does not force login screen afer waking up from suspend/hibernates and that is a big "no no" for me :)

(As I can't seem to find how to edit a comment) Small correction:

Does it work ok?

So, could anyone help me to enable/un-hide hibernate button located in the Power menu ?
Or will I be forced to hibernate all the time using terminal magic ? :)
