xfce under Ubuntu fails when starting url launcher with Firefox

Asked by michael

I prefer to use Ubuntu with Xfce rather than Xubuntu. The problem with the new Firefox 36.0 for Ubuntu is that the desktop url launcher in Xfce does not work properly. Firefox 36.0 under Ubuntu offers the choice "Mozilla Firefox" as default browser. I have to change that to "firefox" to make the url launcher work properly.

See https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1137696 for details. Apparently, the solution is to make the following exo patch:
http://git.xfce.org/xfce/exo/commit/?id=8022a52d10e834ef4481a317b11d6fe02a6c1bf3

This would allow users of Xfce under Ubuntu to accept the choice "Mozilla Firefox".
