14.10 just installed. 3.16.0-31 boots with vertical red lines. Cannot read text on screen. 3.13.0-45 boots ok.

Asked by Bill Walden

Feburary 26, 2015 I upgraded from 14.04 to 14.10.
8 core AMD processor

When I boot into 3.16.0-31 vertical dashed red lines appear on the screen and any text is blurred. Applications appear to run OK but text is blurred and very difficult to read.

Booting into 3.13.0-45 everything appears OK.

The odd part: From the boot menu if I choose the repair utility and choose continue booting it boots into 3.16.0-31 and everything appears OK. But on reboot or restart I get the dashed vertical red lines again.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thank you,
Bill Walden

Why the upgrade? 14.10 is only supported til July 2015, wheras 14.04 is LTS and supported til April 2019.

Why did you upgrade at all? Did 14.04 not work ok for you?
