I am unable to install Adobe Flashplayer. I am running Ubuntu 12.04

I am running Ubuntu 12.04. I can not install Adobe Flashplayer. Every time I try, I get message that Adobe flash player plugin installer must be removed. So, I removed it, but still am unable to install flashplayer.

What is the output of:

lsb_release -a; uname -a; dpkg -l | egrep 'flash|gnash|swf|spark'
