Cannon IR-3300 scanner

Asked by Gautam

Dear Sir,

I have formated my windows pc to ubuntu 14.10 last month. I am very happy with the fast interface and system. Only situation I am facing now is regarding scanner.
I have Cannon IR3300 Multi-funtional scanner/printer.
I have successfully installed the printer, but the scanner is not working.
Request you to kindly guide me in getting Cannon- IR3300 scan driver. I use to use ScanGear in windows for that.

Thanks alot.

What is the output of :

lsb_release -a; uname -a; lsusb

I assume that the device is USB based.

It would be very helpful, for you to give answer to Actionparsnip's request in #1. If you have the printer working, where did you get the driver? Did they not have Scanner driver? Have you installed CUPS? Where have you looked for scanner driver? Which Ubuntu scanning program are you using to scan with?

Thanks for reply and sorry for missing out info on my part.

Printer driver I did not have to find anywhere it was there in the system itself, just had to connect the printers IP address.
I have looked for driver by some googling, but not help. I havent installed CUPS manually, i think its not installed.
I am using in-built Simple Scan App for scanning, but no device.

Thanks for all your help.

Thanks for info.

I went to that website earlier and have installed CQue 2.0.7 Linux Driver DEB 64-bit (v2.0.7) . I can print using this, but not able to scan.
In Simple Scan -> Preference -> Source : [Blank]

Thanks.

If Canon does not provide a Linux driver for that device, the only chance is that someone else programs a device driver.
The SANE project has provided some scanner drivers, but I do not see anything for an iR3300 on their web pages. On contrary, most of the ImageRunner devices are listed as being unsupported.

You might contact the SANE project. Ubuntu cannot help.

Can you help with this problem?
