how do i reset the master password?

i type in the old passwords i remeber but it says wrong passwod. i type in different password i had but none work. i need help with it.

i cant update install or do anything cause it keeps asking for an authen. password and i do not know it. how can i change or get around this?

@funkadellic: there is only one password to remember, which is the password you use to log into Ubuntu.

If you can log into Ubuntu with your logon password, that same password should work when you try to install something.

If you forgot your logon password, use this procedure (see post #1) to reset it.

And if you never set a password, that is wrong. You cannot properly work in Ubuntu, if there is no password set.

Logging into Ubuntu without any password is a security problem and very bad practice.
