is there a way to convert hdtv download to dvd

 I have some hdtv episodes downloaded with bittorrent and would like to convert them so I can burn them on to a dvd. Can this be done in ubuntu gutsy ?
  Hoping you can help, these are episodes I missed while away. Thanks in advance,

Thanks for your question.

Just call Applications->Add/Remove and search for DeVeDe. Install that software and try if it's able to read your HDTV file format.
