You don't need anitvirus in Ubuntu - https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Antivirus

Firewall - no it won't work, beacause when Ubuntu runs, Vista is powered off...; Ubuntu has firewall, it's called iptables, to set it up use Firestarter - https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Firestarter

I checked in application/add/remove and firestarter is not listed. I clicked on system/administration and firestarter is not listed so how do I set up the firewall in Ubuntu?
Thanks for the help

Are you installing a firewall because you need one for a server or something you are running or because you are windows user and under the assumption that all operating systems are as vulnerable as windows? If the former, you can install firestarter by opening a terminal and typing

sudo apt-get install firestarter

Of course, firestarter is just a front end for iptables which is already installed.

If the later, then don't bother. Ubuntu has no open ports by default so a firewall is not needed. If you have a broadband router you also are using NAT which is a very secure "firewall" anyway. Some modems use it too but not all.
