Unity in lockscreen mode does not allow password entry

Asked by Lesley Walker

Sometimes, when I come back to my computer after locking it, the password field is not displayed. This means I cannot enter the password, and I have to do an ungraceful shutdown of my X session.

This is a very big PITA for me, as I work IT support and have a lot of stuff running. Including VMWare workstation.

It only happens when the workstation has been running for a while (usually a few weeks) which leads me to suspect a memory leak, or similar.

I would VERY MUCH like to find a way to unlock the display when this happens, so that I can do a graceful restart instead of crashing my VMs.

It would be nice to have the bug fixed too.

I have searched "unity lockscreen" in the buglist and this one does NOT seem to be already listed, so I will create a new bug report.

You have reported a bug. You don't need a question as well
