Ongoing problem with libreoffice 4.1 in Ubuntu 14.04

Asked by wordsmyth2

Unable to number consecutive pages in document file. When I insert the appropriate page number for page 1, the pagination proceeds smoothly to the end of that file. But having saved said file, when I next access it I find a completely arbitrary re-numbering i.e instead of say, first page = 312, the number 63 or 78 or you name it begins the document and continues from there. Frustrated with LibreOffice 4.1, I downloaded and installed Open Office - only to find the same problem there. How can this be happening? My next move can't be tried for several weeks (am currently holidaying) when I return home and can transfer my document files to Windows Word to see if THAT works okay. Meanwhile, has anyone else reported this problem or is it unique to my laptop - Acer Aspire E1-531? I've been using Ubuntu for eight years and not previously encountered this problem.
