In Edgy: "Failed to initialize HAL" if i leave a cd/dvd in the DVD burner when booting

The summary says it all. It's guaranteed a "Failed to initialize HAL" window in gnome everytime i leave a cd/dvd in the dvd burner when i boot the system.

For information:
Ubuntu 6.10 Edgy Eft using standard packages

As you can see hdparm doesn't seem to recognize the current udma mode (udma4) with this drive when using the -i switch, but that's another story.

So i changed my drive to a LITE-ON DVDRW LH-18A1H and the same thing happens with the "failed to initialize HAL" and the hdparm thing.
