sudo password not accepted

Until recently I have had no problem with using sudo but today my user password is repeatedly not accepted.
I can use it to log in with no problem.
I have tried resetting my password.
Any suggestions about what can have happened?

Thanks for the suggestion but I have tried resetting the password a couple of times.
I've also checked that the caps lock is off.

I've discovered the solution - I must have accidnetally changed the keyboard setting from English (UK) to English(US) - changing it back has solved the problem.
