Unable to install libdvdread4 - 404 error

Asked by Amy Schnelle

When I try to install libdvdread4 I get the following error. I also get 404 errors when attempting to get libdvdcss from videolan. Computers give me migraines, so I can't monkey around with it too long. Is something going on or changing, it seems like there are a lot of broken links on the videoLAN libdvdcss page (clicking on the releases for example).

Thanks

 sudo /usr/share/doc/libdvdread4/install-css.sh

Just tried accessing the packages that failed for you, and for me it now works.
So I assume there was a temporary network problem, and it might work now.
Just re-try and report the outcome.

Yes. Even companies have system issues. We get a few posts like this as people assume their system is faulty. ..

I reran the shell script three times. It failed twice due to timeouts and on the third attempt it succeeded. Thanks for the help. I was assuming I was doing something wrong:)

I had the same problem, i contacted VideoLAN and they restored their "http://download.videolan.org/".
The version of libdvdcss installed by the Debian/Ubuntu script "/usr/share/doc/libdvdread4/install-css.sh" is libdvdcss2_1.2.13-0.
The latest libdvdcss available already packaged into a deb file can be downloaded from "http://www.deb-multimedia.org/" provided by Debian non-free software maintainers.
