Asked by Livenicely

Running tvtime 1.0.2.
Reading configuration from /etc/tvtime/tvtime.xml
Reading configuration from /home/livenicely/.tvtime/tvtime.xml
xvoutput: No YUY2 XVIDEO port available.

*** tvtime requires a hardware YUY2 overlay. One is supported
*** by your driver, but we could not grab it. It is likely
*** being used by another application, either another tvtime
*** instance or a media player. Please shut down this other
*** application and try tvtime again.

Yes, this problem is caused by the poor ATI video drivers. fglrx gave me all sorts of troubles. I could not find a solution to this... Other than changing my video card to Nvidia--much better driver support for linux. My ATI card had other colour problems in Linux too. I have never had problems with nvidia cards in Linux. The binary drivers work fine.

Bhavani Shankar.

OK thanks for the information.. Here the solution goes:

Open up a terminal and execute:

sudo modprobe bttv

then

sudo modprobe snd_intel8x0 card=* tuner=*

* = number of the card and the tuner

/usr/src/linux/Documentation/video4linux/CARDLIST is a list of cards and find out from there your card and card no.. (Make sure you use rmmod snd_intel8x0 before using modprobe) and then you need a tuner number so try and find out which tuner you have and find the number in

"/usr/src/linux/Documentation/video4linux/CARDLIST.tuner"

and then for example lets say your card number was 11 and tuner no was 2

in the terminal you would type: rmmod saa7134 && modprobe snd_intel8x0 card=11 tuner=2.

and then edit /etc/tvtime/tvtime.xml

change this to the same value as tuner above

<option name="V4LInput" value="2"/>

then tvtime should work

Hope the info helps

Bhavani Shankar.

Thank you so much sir.
I think my tv card is not compatible with linux.
I have Z-Cyber Genie Ultra TV/FM Tuner
Using Conexant CX 23881 solution
Built-in FM Tuner
I am using Edubuntu 7.10
Intel Pentium 2.4 Ghz processor
eSys 845gv v.5.0 Main board with intel 82801db chips
Built-in intel 845gv 64mb vga (i810 driver in linux)
C-media CMI 9761A sound chip (I am using alsa mixer with intel82801db ICH4)

Problem No. 1

/dev/v4l/video0 &
/dev/v4l/vbi0 was present in ubuntu 7.10

Now

/dev/v4l/video0 &
/dev/v4l/vbi0 is not present in Edubuntu 7.10

But

/dev/video0 is present
