how is Xine removed from computer?

Asked by Rimedio

I am a neophyte to Linux and Ubuntu. While using Firefox, my during my first attempt to view a news video, I was given an option to download a viewer. I selected Xing. When I attempt to view something, it starts loading, it starts buffering, but stops at about 20% and then hangs. I would like to uninstall (remove) the package. It is not in Applications >Add/Remove. I located it in Adapt Manager, but was not logged in as root. I do not know how to use the terminal and have been unable to locate terminal commands. Do I want to remove Xing? If so, how is it done? If it is not asking too much, where can I locate terminal commands?

Thanks for any help you can give.

Jim

To get acquainted with shell commands in general, check out this link:

http://www.linuxcommand.org/learning_the_shell.php

Further, you can remove xine by entering
"sudo apt-get remove xine"
in a terminal.

It should also be listed in Synaptic ("System > Preferences > Synaptic Package Manager"). Once found mark it for removal & apply.

Can you help with this problem?
