Want to revert to 14.04 from 14.10

Asked by Kent G. Budge

I upgraded to 14.10 from 14.04 yesterday, 30 November, and I already deeply regret it. Anjuta is broken. The DOS terminal emulator is now dog-slow. And the software package update first quit with a fatal error and now hangs. I am not at all impressed with 14.10.

Is there a fairly painless way to revert to 14.04, with which I was very happy?

Thanks.

The only way to downgrade is a new installation.

If you were 'very happy' with 14.04 then why did you change it at all? It makes absolutely no sense at all.

Also consider that 14.10 is only supported til July next year wheras Trusty is LTS and supported til April 2019.

Why did you fix what wasn't broken?

As Manfred says, you will need to reinstall. You can restore your user data from your backups.

actionparsnip, telling me how stupid it was to upgrade is not really helpful.

But at least I got an answer to my original question, which is apparently: No.
