How do I format hard disk

I have a p4 with a dual boot of winxp and ubuntu. I use the ubuntu as my premier os. I want to format the partition which the winxp is sitting on so I will have a bigger space on my hard disk. the only problem is - I did'nt find a way to do so...

You can boot from the live Ubuntu cd, then use parted to remove the windows partition and move/grow the Ubuntu partition to take the space.

System->Administrator->synaptic package manager

search for gparted software and install it.GParted is a good Partition Editor and formatting application.
