Ubuntu 10.04LTS for Desktop Computer became obsolete 2013-05-09

You need an update.

The best way is to copy your personal stuff to an external USB drive and do a new clean install. Then copy your personal stuff back onto the computer.

Ubuntu commonly issues every 6 months but LTS (Long Term Support) issues last longer. The last LTS was 14.04 which will last until 2019-04

I also recommend Trusty. If you dislike Unity (find screenshots online) then use cinnamon desktop or even xfce or lxde or kde (again, find screenshots online). There are official releades of Ubuntu with each desktop (Xubuntu, Lubuntu etc).

As an additional information:
Adobe refuses to provide flash players higher than 11.2 for Linux.
If you need a player for flash content with a version of 11.3 or higher, the only chance you have on Linux is the pepper-flash player in Google Chrome/Chromium browser. And that is not available for outdated Ubuntu versions like 10.04.
