Can you give some information on what the error is? If I understand you correctly the LiveCD runs OK, but the installation fails. When does it fail, at what step? Does it give you an error message?

No, the CD runs with Windows on. Even when I turn the computer off and back on, Windows desktop opens like usual but Ubuntu screen comes on that shows you sample screens of what it would look like and three items to download."launching brower, please wait.." little screen comes on as the CD keeps running. Then, a screen shows up which on top says "Ubuntu 7.10(DiscTree)". A little below that it says "boot from this CD to try Ubuntu without affecting your system" and below that shows the three icons for Firefox, Thunderbird, and Abiword. I downloaded these, but every time I click on Ubuntu logo on top, it brings me to another screen saying "read more about Ubuntu". There is no other place to click and that's where I am right now.

Advantage:Linux, in order to install ubuntu please set your pc bios such that the CD/DVD ROM is the first device to boot from --> save the change --> insert your ubuntu CD/DVD and pick the first option INSTALL.

please see ticket #25601 answers, there are two url's that may be of help.
