don't know how to install ubuntu 12.04.5 from disc

Asked by Jonathan Todd

Hi, I tried to upgrade to trusty but it failed and now I have tonnes of problems. I'm trying to do a clean install of ubuntu 12.04.5 from a dvd but it doesn't seem to be working-another install I just put the disc in and followed the prompts. Not this time. How can I get the computer to respond to the dvd?

Be sure to MD5 test the ISO you downloaded. Burn optical media as slowly as possible. Torrents help downloads as the protocol adds extra error checks.

How do I freeze the screen upon bootup to see what keys I need to enter the setup?

I don't know how to freeze screen to find setup key. Look at top right of screen on boot up. You can Google "key to enter BIOS on (make and model of your computer)". If that does not work, please give computer make and model here.
