Hardware support Intel BayTrail platform

Asked by Jens Schröder

I need a new computer, and I 'd like to install and run Xubuntu 14.04 (64bit) on it. The dealer couldn't tell, if the hardware in question works nicely together with Ubuntu or any Linux. Some facts:
- mainboard with Intel Celeron J1900 (ASRock Q1900-ITX)
- recommendation of the board manufacturer: Windows 7 , 8
- In a web forum: "... the Intel Bay Trail Platform does not support operate system Ubuntu ..." , see also:

Does (X)ubuntu 14.04 support that hardware? Eventually when? Are there any restrictions?
