ec2 apt repo using us servers

Asked by Daniel Muller

Hi,
From inside an EC2 (vpc or classic), ap-southeast-1.ec2.archive.ubuntu.com resolves to us.archive.ubuntu.com and therefore not using any regional cache.

Thanks
Daniel

I suggest you contact your DNS manager.

Or switch DNS servers in your system.

I tried with other resolvers. Same issue.
I don't think the problem is on the resolver side. None of the subdomains seem to be delegated, and therefore managed by Canonical.
I can still ask AWS if they have a clue.
I see several possibilities:
1/ misconfig of DNS entry in ubuntu.com zone
2/ Caninical no more wants to have mirrors in AWS
3/ Mirror name has changed

I didn't find any clue elsewhere, hence my questions

Sounds like an issue on the name server. Report a bug.
