HP Deskjet F4200 All-in-One series is installed but won't scan in ubuntu 14.04 LTS?

Asked by Tam Hamrick

Plugged in printer.
Restarted computer.
Checked to see if it was installed by clicking on SYSTEMS, then PRINTER, it has a green circle with a check mark inside by my HP Deskjet F4200 printer...so I think that means it's installed...right?
Wanted to scan something to be stored on my computer, but nothing happened when I pushed the scan button.
HELP! PLEASE!

Hello,

I suggest you ckeck if you have the hplip package. You find it in the software center (or if you have unity, I think also in the launcher).

The developers site is http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/supported_devices/index.html

There is a very long list of supported printers I did not see your's in this list, but some very close printer names. maybe there is a good chance it will work for you.

Good luck
Enrico
