Kubuntu 14.10: Screen doesn't blank out when it's suppose to

Asked by msmigiel

Hello all,

I recently upgraded to Kubuntu 14.10 and I'm finding that my laptop screen no longer turns off after 5 minutes. In System Settings -> Energy Savings, I have "Screen Energy Savings" set to turn off after 5 minutes and it's been this way for a while. My only thought is that I also have fwm installed and xscreensaver so I am not sure if that just started to interfere for some reason.

Does anyone have any ideas? How can I get the KDE screen savers and energy savings to work?
