how do I disable images in kubuntu to cut down on download consumption since I had been using windows XP previously and kubuntu seems completely different to me???

not sure how you would od it with konqueror - which I assume you're using, but have a look in preferences

in firefox it's in preferences > content > load images automatically

at least that's what I think you're after
