LibreOffice Spellcheck not working in Ubuntu 14.04

Installed Ubuntu 14.04, only to find LibreOffice spellchecker not working. All the right boxes are ticked but the spelling is not checked, either when typing or from beginning of document via drop-down menu. Anyone else experienced this problem? Any solutions?
