Problem with Ubuntu 14.04 instalation

Asked by William Beltrán

I use Windows 8.1 and I tryed installing Ubuntu. I downloaded the latest version for 64 bits. I put it on a USB and I ran the installer. It remained almost an hour and a half, but when it finished it showed me an error "Permission denied" and that I could find some help in the file "c\users\...\appdata\local\temp\wubi-14.04-rev286.log" but this file didn't really helped me. I am new in Linux and I'd liked some help, please. Thank you.

Wubi does not work with Windows 8. Suggest you do a dual boot Ubuntu 14.04 and Windows 8.

I tryed a dual boot, but it didn't work out. But I couldn't start it from the boot. Could you suggest me another Linux distro?

http://distrowatch.com/

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Linux_distributions

These sites will give many Linux distros. I can't give suggestions on other distros because I have only Ubuntu Xubuntu and Peppermint, all based on Ubuntu (based on Debian). I believe it would be better to spend time on getting dual boot to work, because you may have same problems, with other distros.

Resize the NTFS partition in Windows then boot to the install USB and install. Wubi has also not been developed since 2012 and is abandoned. Wubi wasn't even good when it was an active project
