Need to know step by step how to run cd video courses

When I insert a CD video course into my CD drive the launchpad shows the CD symbol, I can hear the whirring sound, but I cannot get the program to run. When I click on CD symbol and double click on 'menu.exe' I get fault messages. I did get one CD of the course to run but cannot work out how.

Is this something to do with the permissions details I may have incorrect ?

Until fairly recently I have been using Windows XP - so I am still learning about using Ubuntu.

Can you please help me with a step by step guide ?

What is the CD you have?

The CD sets I have are 'Modern Technology for the Befuddled' - 6 CDs ( 3 for 'The Kit & Kaboodle' - Lessons 1 & 2, 3 & 4, 5 & 6 and 3 for '...And What You Do With It' - Lessons 1 & 2, 3 & 4, 5 & 6) published by The Helpful Book Co. Instructions to play refer to Windows 7, Vista or XP & Windows 8. When I was running Windows XP on my old system all was okay.

What does the autorun.inf file on the CD have in it if you open it in gedit?

Shows 'Text Editor' window with header = 'autorun.inf(Set 1 Lesson 1 & 2/media/chris/Set 1 Lesson 1 & 2)-gedit' and then
'[autorun]
open=menu.exe'

Then you will need to install wine using software centre and run it there. You may want to copy the CD data to a folder to make things easier, or mount the CD executable if it isn't already

I have installed wine from your software centre and all works okay now.
I have even found that my FujiFilm FinePix CD and HP printer CD now work
