Audio issue on Toshiba Satellite A105-S2021 laptop
Hello,
I just installed Ubuntu (newbie) 7.10 on my Toshiba Satellite A105-S2021 laptop. After the installation it found a bunch of updates that I downloaded and installed. Everything seems to be running Ok but I have no audio as well as a working VPN but that's another issue. I have the Realtek ALC861 audio controller. I have been reading some of the posts and trying to gather as much info as I can before I start tinkering. I noticed one post was for a Toshiba A135 with a Realtek ALC861 audio controller. Most of the suggestions I seen was to add an " options snd-hda-intel (and a few different settings)". My question is why snd-hda-intel when I noticed this person (question #15343) mentioned he had a Realtek ALC861 sound device. Is this Intel like a generic option to use ?
Thanks
