Problems with writing rights from xp laptop to Ubuntu 14.04

Asked by Gerlof Brinck

Dear sir.madam,

Recently I have upgraded my compter (desktop) from Ubuntu 12.01 to Ubuntu 14.04. So far so good.
To work also on my laptop (windows XP)I have installed Samba (1.2.63) on my computer. After some trouble I can now reach the files from my laptop in my desktop and from the desktop on the laptop. I can open the files, but....
When I work on my laptop and change something on these files (e.g. some tekst) on my laptop or I make a new subdirectory the rights are changed. When I check on my desktop by properties it gives: You are not the owner so you can not change the properties.

For my reports I work on both computers (laptop for the tekst, the easy work, and the desktop for the heavy work).

With Ubuntu 12.01 I had never such problems.
I hope someone can help me out.

Thank at beforehand.

Kindly Regards

Gerlof Brinck.

Yes, the system worked good in 12.04.

I can remember that at first I had a problem and if I remember well that I had to share the directory in 12.04. So I tried to find the were I can klick for sharing files. Now in 14.04 I can not find them.

The point is I can reach the files from my laptop on my ubuntu desktop, I can work with them, but when I save the files than when I look at the file in Ubuntu there is a logo with a lock on it. Insufficient rights.

I hope I have given you enough information, else please tel me what you want to know more.

Thanks for your trouble, hope to hear from you.

Kindly regards

Gerlof Brinck.
