space use/size of repositories

Asked by cameron whiting

I was wondering if Ubuntu's team did anything to visualize the size of your repos? you've done similar work with burndown charts and I was hoping for a way to tell how large your repositories are and what they contain, per filters like i386 packages, source, versions of ubuntu, backports, unstable, universe partners etc.

how would one go about finding the size of this iceberg?

*seeing as I wasted your time with that question, how do I clone your entire repo (assuming I can acquire the needed space)?

I don't even know the keywords or the functionality, nobody's ever clued me in on an "apt server" so to speak and I've certainly never found information to accomplish this.
